The Bible contains a remarkable amount of passages dealing with money and economic issues. Obviously, God felt it necessary to give us a comprehensive spiritual perspective on these matters. Firstly, because money is playing an essential role in everyday life. Secondly, because it carries a strong conflict potential for God’s plans and purposes in and for our lives, both individually and corporately. Which is why Jesus stated so adamantly that we cannot serve both God and money at the same time (Matt 6:24; Luke 16:13).

What we learn in theory (education) and by observation (daily life) about money influences our handling of it, regardless of context. But rarely does this reflect our Creator's instructions or principles. Quite the contrary. 

The world financial system, with its general use of fiat money, fractional reserve banking, interest, and limited liability laws, violates God's word in all respects. It is exploitative, destructive and unsustainable by design. This fact is not new, but increasingly evident even to the wider public, especially since the global financial crisis of 2007/2008. It has markedly changed the economic landscape, flaunting the system's unfair character and its enormous vulnerability like never before.

To date, no measure by the secular world has been successful to fully control and contain, let alone remedy, the chaos caused by this crisis. It shows that conventional wisdom, general knowledge, and the financial science of the world are pretty limited, offering no real solution.

A solution is only possible by following our Creator’s wise instructions, since through Him and for Him everything was created and in Him everything holds together (Col 1:16-17; John 1:2-3; Rom 11:36). God's ways are neither tied to nor limited by the mainstream school of thought. Their implementation, however, presupposes openness to a very different paradigm (Rom 12:2; John 15:5; 1Cor 3:11; Eph 4:17).

It is both very exciting and totally challenging to convey God's radically different ways in money matters, but I do just that with passion because I consider them to be far more just and superior than what the world has to offer.
